King Packaging Company joined the Dixie Crystals Foodservice organization in 1993, then merged with Diamond Crystal Specialty Foods in 1999. In December 2001 King Packaging was acquired by Tyco Plastics.

In February 2006 Tyco Plastics was acquired by Apollo Management , L.P., a private investor firm and was then renamed Covalence Plastics. In April 2007, Covalence merged with Berry Plastics.
